About the boat
The great thing about rowing across an ocean for the second time is that we can put into practice all the things we learned first time round, and therefore set ourselves up for the best chance of success. As such we are really excited to have secured the use of the boat “Pura Vida”, winner of the 2007 Atlantic Rowing Race.
Pura Vida has been refitted by Mark Terry at Rowtec since her Atlantic crossing to an extremely high specification. Many developments are based on lessons learned on that crossing, and all the equipment is specifically designed for purpose. She is widely regarded as one of the very best Ocean Rowing Boats in existence, and as such we are delighted to have the opportunity to charter her. The boat has two rowing positions located in the central cockpit area, a small cabin in the stern provides shelter for sleeping and electrical/navigation equipment, and there is a watertight storage area in the bow of the boat. Other storage for food, water ballast etc is found in compartments under the deck.
