Angel talk

28 Jun 2009

As our thoughts turn to land and the re-integration into civilised society we have been thinking of some of the habits that we will have to leave behind on our beloved boat. One such thing is 'boat lingo', our improvised language to ensure swift and speedy communication between crew members. It goes a little something like this....

- 'I'm going to down a chocolate bar' translates to.. I'm absolutely shattered and about to fall asleep so will neck a chocolate bar as quickly as I possibly can in the vain hope of staying awake

- 'I'm a bit weary' translates to.. I'm bleedin knackered and don't want to be on this boat one second longer

- 'It's a bit tedious' translates to.. we're going so bleedin slow i want to tear my hair out and it might be quicker if we get out and swim

- 'It's a bit splashy' translates to.. we're getting drenched every 10 seconds and i want to cry

- 'Can you scoop me up?' translates to.. please could you put a scoop of energy drink into my bottle in the desperate hope it will give me some energy

-'Are you plugged in?' translates to.. do you have your ipod on?

- 'Ten minutes' translates to.. you have ten minutes too drag your weary self out of the nice warm cabin and ready yourself for yet another few hours on the oars

- 'You've got three mins till time!' translates to.. I haven't seen you stirring in the cabin yet and I'm not staying on this seat a second longer than I need to so you better get up ruddy quickly

- 'Can you pump me up' translates to.. please could you fill my water bottle

- 'Can you cream me up' translates to.. please could you put suncream on my back

- 'I'm having a bucket moment' translates to.. I'm going to have to make a dash for the toilet very very quickly

- 'Is the attendant on duty?' translates to.. is someone there to dish out loo roll or do I need to bring my own

In other news we hit another milestone today... 10 weeks at sea! So if you're feeling the Angel love how about donating a pound for each week we've been out here to our very worthy charities?! (That's a tenner for those of you that like our Sarah, aren't so keen on maths). Thank you.
