Digging deep
13 May 2009
Having had a tough couple of days out here we thought now would be a good time to reflect on why we're doing this crazy thing. I am of course talking about our target of raising fifty thousand pounds for Breast Cancer Care.
I am lying here wearing my Breast Cancer Care wrist band with the 3 words support, knowledge, and strength on it. Having lost my Mum to Breast Cancer, and having been through cancer myself, I can fully appreciate the importance of these 3 things and of the work that the charity does. We are all passionate about reaching our fundraising target and helping make a difference however small to some of the people going through these tough times. Whatever aches, pains and hardships we are going through out here pale into insignificance in comparison.
So a massive thank you to all of you who have so generously supported us and helped us on our way. For those of you thinking about donating - hopefully we're providing you some entertainment with our green dot and our witty ramblings...! It would be truly amazing if everyone reading this (quite a few of you by all accounts) could recruit us another 10 supporters and get them hooked on daily dot watching - you know how addictive it is! Then if each of those new recruits could donate us a pound for every week we are out here - let's say about 10 weeks - we would be such a long way towards smashing our goal of fifty thousand pounds. So please please please keep spreading the word. We are constantly amazed and humbled by people's generosity - recently an amazing couple we met in Geraldton who pledged a dollar for every mile and double if we make it to Mauritius; and Mrs Allen (Nat's mum) who is organising a fundraiser in the local pub for us having never met any of us. Thanks to all of you - brilliant.
Back to comedy tomorrow... in the mean time we're all well and rowing hard. Rumour has it the boys are on our tail but rest assured we are digging deep!
