How to pass the time on shift

22 Jun 2009

I don’t know if you are all aware but we do a bit of rowing on this little boat of ours, well about 12 hours a day to be precise. So we have had to find hundreds of different ways to pass the time.......

There is the obvious chatting but after 9 weeks of each other company we have been know to repeat conversation or to talk about the most random and bizarre items - who would have thought that you could talk about favourite vegetables for 2 hours or have a discussion about what your favourite sandwich filling is 4 times over.

Ipods, these are a god send they have a whole range of music from classical, classic legends, a bit of cheese and hard core dance. As well as a range of podcasts to make us chuckle and audio books. The only downfall is that with these comes random outbursts of laughter and very out of tune sing-alongs at unexpected times.

Contemplation time.... a lot of it!! God only knows what goes on in the angels heads!!!! I cant divulge!!!!!

Food and drink - now that’s a good way of passing time. our snack bags generally contain 2 bags of nuts, a bag of skittles 3 chocolate bars and a nut/fruit bar, lets just say none of it goes to waste apart from the peanuts which we still have a mountain.

Games have featured quite highly on the agenda when particularly struggling. They include the famous person name game, name that tune, name the film from the famous quote. how ever are favourite game is who am I this is the game where one rower picks a picture or person from our faceboat collage which we stare at the whole time we row and ask questions until we get it right.

Another favourite is to play bingo with the GPS tractor course and bearing and speed.... yes, that is right, desperate times call for desperate measures!!!!!!!!

Faceboat is back - join us on the boat!
