Many apologies for the lack of blogging activity recently. We'd love to tell you it's because we'd disappeared off for a weekend city break to celebrate the bank holiday - sipping beers in Barcelona before tapas and salsa til dawn, but no. We have been here rowing. In the cloudy, wet, rainy, grey, dark, turbulent, shinbashing Indian Ocean. Whoever told us heat was going to be our biggest problem was clearly lying. We have had a grand total of about 5 hours sun in the last week. Hence low power and hence no blog for a couple of days. The sun has just crept out from wherever it's been hiding and so we're making the most - filling the water tanks and updating you.
We're on the move again - nearing halfway we reckon which is amazing. All in all we're doing ok. Slightly sore backsides, slightly clawed hands, very bashed up shins, flaking tans, and bleached blonde hair which is reflecting in our mental capacity. Favourite recent quotes include... Jo "I was going to do some memory games to improve my memory but I forgot."; Sarah "Fi have I got my hood up?"; Fiona "We need a code word in case we see a Tsunami approaching"; and Elin who burst out of the cabin demanding to know where everyone was when we were on paraanchor and who also tries to get up at least 3 times in every rest shift as she's so keen to get back to the oars.
So all in all we're doing pretty well. We might need some integrating back into society - there are some things that have become "normal" that clearly are not. More on that another time perhaps...
Big hello to Mr Heron and friends - thanks for lovely message - we think that would be perfect too! Look forward to seeing you in Mauritius!
